Such is the case in this example of the manufacturing of a complex aircraft skin, the protective and functional covering of the wings and fuselage of an aircraft. Protomatic was presented with the challenge of sculpting multiple compound angles out of high-strength aluminum 7075-T73 alloy. These compound angles are characteristic of the aerodynamic profiles visible on military jets. The skin work was completed in eight weeks with twice the bend radius of previous projects. In other words, we were successful once again at providing a solution with astounding results within a very limited timeframe.
