New ERP System at Protomatic Improves Efficiency and Order Accuracy

Protomatic, a precision CNC machining company serving the medical, aerospace, defense, and other high-performance industries, recently transitioned its ERP system from E2 Shoptech to JobBOSS² by ECI Solutions.

E2 Shoptech and JobBOSS were combined by ECI into JobBOSS², the company’s modern cloud-based ERP platform designed specifically for manufacturers. For Protomatic, the move delivers meaningful operational advantages that directly benefit our customers — especially those in high-mix, low-volume precision manufacturing environments.

Building on a Strong Foundation

While our team continues learning and optimizing the new system, we still maintain access to historical production data dating back to 1999, when our previous ERP platform was implemented.

One of the biggest early improvements has been visibility into real-time business performance. We have already created dashboards for critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across multiple business operations. Previously, much of this information was only available through monthly reporting. Now, we can monitor performance in real time and respond much faster.

Turning Data Into Action

The new ERP platform also allows us to create more detailed process indicators and gain deeper operational insight.

For example, a KPI such as Customer On-Time Delivery may previously have shown an overall score of 96.45%. While helpful, that number alone did not always provide enough detail to identify opportunities for improvement.

With JobBOSS², we can now drill deeper into the data to identify which specific jobs, customers, or processes contributed to less-than-perfect performance. That visibility allows us to investigate root causes, optimize manufacturing processes for future orders, and improve response times across the organization.

In short, better data helps us make better decisions — faster.

What’s Next

The next phase of implementation includes developing additional department-level KPIs and expanding system capabilities to further improve efficiency, scheduling, communication, and order accuracy throughout the company.
